One interesting item from that event is this reported by Bill Schrier.
"Today Motorola’s CTO Paul Steinberg talked about a Band 14 (that’s FirstNet spectrum) device they have. He also held up a device (see attached) which he says is an LTE network in a box – all the servers, the evolved packet core, the radio site (eNodeB), 3x3 (six megahertz), etc. The idea is that it could be put in a drone or a balloon, along with a radio antenna and radio transmitter, and then sent above a remote area to give a “bubble” of cellular network above that area. He also talked about developing goggles or eyewear so first responders could be driving or observing but also see their smartphone or computer screen in the glasses, and even control devices through movements of their eyes (e.g. fluttering their eyelids twice rapidly to key up a radio transmitter). Motorola has acquired or invested in tech companies to make this sort of thing a reality."
The above is a great example of how technology is changing quickly and how these new technologies can be combined to provide increased capability to emergency management and first responders.
