Quote: Distorted truth is worse than a lie

When you distort truth it is harder for people to figure out what is real and what is spin.

“The most dangerous of all falsehoods is a slightly distorted truth.”  G.C. Lichtenberg  Unfortunately the current political world we live in today is full of what this quote describes.  What is stated, is true—but not the whole truth.  Aspects of the truth are left out in order to make a point that supports one's point of view.  This leads to more posturing than action.  It confuses people as to what is really going on.

In today’s world you can get the information you want with the spin that you want when you want it.  Unfortunately what is dying with the mainstream media of old, especially newspapers, is this regard for truth-telling.  Even the media in the form of networks can approach a topic from only one perspective without much balance and no intention of providing nonbias news reporting.

This means that we as consumers of information must be on our guard not to be hoodwinked by those who only seek to advance themselves and their skewed view of the world.
