Quote: On Moderation and Excess

Putting a twist on an old phrase.

“Never take moderation to excess.”  Sidney M. Jourard  Moderation is generally considered a good thing.  January being the “dieting month” we all think of food and trying to change our bad habits.

Have you ever met someone so “all out gung-ho” for something that he or she is unstoppable?  Just full of energy, ideas, and enthusiasm for what is being done or needs to be done.

These are the people who do not believe in moderation when they see a need and are filling it.  If we expect to change anything it will not be done with a “moderate approach.”  It must be a full-on assault (probably with a tinge of moderation—so as not to alienate people) and we can move mountains.

Let’s resolve to have less moderation when it comes to building disaster resilience in 2014.
