Recently I read an article about a software developer who was burnt out, trying to keep up with innovation. The march of technology is relentless. What you knew yesterday is old news, what you know today will be replaced by the information technology of tomorrow. This pace of technology change is not going to slow down, if anything it will speed up.
The majority of us professionals working in emergency management were not digital natives growing up as children. The generation in school today will not know a time when they did not have an electronic tether. I remember when a TV remote (my mother called it the clicker) was considered cool-times have changed!
While we watch the Egypt revolution play out on television, the internet and yes, on Twitter it is a lesson of more revolutions to come. Not just the demonstrations and social upheavals, but in how people relate to one another and share information.
I think I can safely say, "You haven't seen nothing yet!
