Revolution in Building Materials

New materials are becoming available

Remember this term: "cross-laminated timber" (CLT). It is a new form of wood product that is seeing application in new types of building structures. See this article on a 12-story CLT building. I'm sure you will be reading more about the use of this new form of wood product in the years to come.

With the recent London high-rise fire in mind, we are counting on building inspectors and manufacturers to do their parts in ensuring that materials used in construction meet or exceed all fire codes. The fire resistance of exterior cladding for that building in London has been called into question.
