Seattle Police Posting Body Camera Video Online

This is an example of the transparency that will be expected by the public.

Way back when, I blogged on how video was going to be one of the next big things. This is because of the higher connection speeds that exist today and the ability of people to connect using their digital mobile devices.

I saw a report about the Seattle Police posting body camera video online using a YouTube page to share the video with the general populace. Seattle is one of the country's cities that has been under the Department of Justice's microscope and so this is a great way to become more transparent.

Be sure and read the linked article. You will see that this is not raw footage but that it has been redacted as appropriate. I don't see how this will work with widespread usage of body cameras, but the concept of sharing video will certainly spread to other cities and law enforcement agencies.
