The Weaponization of Social Media

Is it real or is it Memorex?

We have a huge challenge today for those of us on social media. If it is a hot topic, political or social, there is a good chance that you might have been or will be influenced by a bot (what is a bot). You can learn more about what is going on in this unseen war by listening to Fresh Air, The 'Weaponization' Of Social Media — And Its Real-World Consequences.

The authors of the book LikeWar: The Weaponization of Social Media discuss what is happening politically around the world, in combat by opposing forces and the social wars that spring up.

It is another example of the erosion of trust. You can't believe what you read on social media, even if it looks like it is coming from what you might have considered a reputable source. As an example, the book cites that the number seven trending social media site the day of our 2016 Presidential Election, reported to be associated with the Tennessee Republican Party, was actually a Russian site being managed by them.

Beware!!

P.S., If you don't know the reference to Memorex, ask someone over the age of 55.
