Michigan State Police (MSP) Director Col. Kriste Kibbey Etue is pleased to announce the promotion of F/Lt. Chris Kelenske to captain and commander of the Emergency Management and Homeland Security Division (EMHSD), effective Feb. 17, 2013.
As commander of the EMHSD, Kelenske is responsible for the statewide management and administration of emergency management and homeland security programs, as well as supervision of the division’s 75 employees. In this position, he also serves as the Deputy State Director of Emergency Management and Homeland Security.
Prior to his promotion, Kelenske was temporarily assigned to the Office of the Director as coordinator of the department’s Secure Cities Partnership, which focuses on providing enhanced MSP law enforcement services in the cities of Detroit, Flint, Pontiac and Saginaw.
