"Alumni friends and family. Some of you may have already heard of some of the contract support issues we’ve been having at the Center. Most of our exceptional instructors, speakers, lecturers, communications staff and program leaders perform Center work under these contracts and we rely on them to a tremendous degree. As you have personally experienced, they are simply the best.
While we recently went through an award process that included a gap in service in this contract, we are now facing a “stay of performance” while a protest to the award is processed and adjudicated. This is very challenging for us but we hope for only a short time. However, we have had to adjust quickly as well as postpone some near-term activities and may need to continue to operate at a limited capacity for a longer time. This is obviously hard on our folks and their families as well as presenting some disruptions to our current students. All our staff and faculty not affected by this have been exceptionally ready to step up and step in where possible and our FEMA sponsor has been incredibly supportive as well as our command chain here at NPS.
We will continue to hold the APEX Conferencein early May and look forward to seeing many of you here for that event. We truly appreciate your concerns and support and just wanted to keep you informed.
