Who Belongs to a Union?

Which occupations have the most unionization?

Unions have been a part of the American worker experience for many years. Which occupations are unionized has changed over the years. When I was in school, you never heard about unions. Today, most teachers in public education are union members.

When I think about what is the most powerful union, I think of the longshoremen. They can make port directors shake in their boots when they threaten to have a work slowdown.

Today it is interesting to watch the technical IT companies like Microsoft state that they know unionization is coming for their workers. Starbucks is having some high-profile unionization activities. Nothing remains static!

Here’s a report that you might find interesting: “The Most Unionized U.S. Occupations in 2022.”

Did you know that some Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) employees are unionized?
