(TNS)- Six Flags Magic Mountain was forced to close the Valencia amusement park for the day due to a “massive” winter storm racing through Southern California with significant rain and powerful winds.

Magic Mountain’s official Twitter account said the park would be closed on Thursday, Feb. 23. Tickets purchased for Thursday will be honored on any other day in 2023, the park said.

Heavy rain and wind gusts up to 50 mph are expected on Thursday with an atmospheric river system moving through Southern California over the weekend and into next week.

“This is a pretty massive winter storm for Southern California,” weather service meteorologist James Brotherton told the Southern California News Group.
