The SKYWARN training session will take place at 6 p.m. on April 14 at the Mott Community College Regional Technology Center.
SKYWARN is a public service program that asks volunteers to help keep their local communities safe by providing accurate reports of severe weather to the National Weather Service.
The volunteer program has between 350,000 and 400,000 volunteers. Training is free and typically lasts about two hours, according to the National Weather Service website.
Residents will earn basics of thunderstorm development, fundamentals of storm structure, how to ID potential severe weather features, information to report, how to report the information and basic severe weather safety.
