Relief Funds Pay for Stafford, Conn., Website Overhaul

The newly updated website was paid for through federal pandemic relief funds granted to the town in 2021, which can be used for investments in upgrading technology infrastructure resources.

(TNS) — The town has developed a new website with the help of federal pandemic relief funds, town officials have announced.

The new website features an updated look and interface, as well as new drone videos of the town on the main page.

The updated website was funded by federal pandemic relief funds granted to the town in 2021, which are able to be used for investments in upgrading technology infrastructure resources to "improve access to and the user-experience of government information technology systems."

The town paid website design company Revise $22,800 to build the new webpage, and will pay an annual fee of $3,400 for five years, according to minutes of a March 21 Board of Selectmen meeting.

Up to $30,000 of the town's federal pandemic relief funds will go towards paying for the new website, according to minutes from a March 3 meeting of the town commission that decides how to use the funds.

"The new website and technologies will also advance community outreach, increase public access, and improve public delivery of government programs and services," town officials said in the website's announcement.

Officials also noted that content is still being added to the new website, and residents may experience "content delays" as the new platform is reorganized and updated.

Stafford is not the only town to update its website in recent years, as the towns of Vernon, East Hartford, and Andover launched refreshed sites in March 2021, October 2021, and July 2020, respectively.

Manchester officials also said this year that the town is in the midst of a website redesign.
