As a result of the project, DelDOT has added new functionality, replaced customizations with delivered functionality, and streamlined processes. The project upgraded DelDOT's Oracle PeopleSoft Human Capital Management (HCM) application from version 8.01 to 8.9 Service Pack One (SP1) using PeopleSoft Change Assistant. This upgrade allows DelDOT to capitalize on new features in the PeopleSoft system, such as absence management, general ledger interface, online job requisitions, automated step progressions, re-engineering of security, lightweight directory access protocol (LDAP) and application messaging.
DelDOT also turned to CIBER to implement additional features and suggest business process improvements. For instance, the project integrated the PeopleSoft Absence Management application and configured 42 complex absence entitlement programs, resulting in the elimination of all custom processes for absence management. Having one system instead of 42 custom systems is expected to reduce training and maintenance costs for the organization, significantly improve Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) processing, and help DelDOT more efficiently manage personnel absence requests.
DelDOT is one of the first organizations in the U.S. to implement this application in release 8.9. CIBER re-engineered the system's security features to simplify system authorization management tasks, and also enabled self-service modules to simplify the submission and validation of time-off requests, and enhanced the use of the PeopleSoft recruitment module, called Talent Acquisition Manager, to incorporate more new features.
"The CIBER team worked extremely well with our internal functional and technical team members. CIBER knew exactly what needed to be done and came in and accomplished it. The project was well-managed and organized. What is truly amazing is that they came in and figured out how to configure Absence Management with very little assistance from Oracle," said Rhonda Ringer of the DelDOT Office of Information Technology.
