Los Angeles County Extends LEADER Support Contract

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Social Services (DPSS) has exercised its option to extend the Los Angeles Eligibility, Automated Determination, Evaluation and Reporting (LEADER) contract with Unisys for two years. The extension which took effect in May extends the contract through April 2007.

The LEADER system provides its users an online, real-time method for determining eligibility and benefit amounts for DPSS assistance programs, including CalWORKs (the State's public assistance program), Medi-CAL (Medicaid), Food Stamps and General Relief.

Unisys provides application modification and enhancement services and technology infrastructure and services for the LEADER system. The system in turn supports more than 11,000 users processing an average of 5.5 million transactions daily, prints between 70,000 and 200,000 images daily, and is capable of producing more than 1,000 different types of notices to clients in English and Spanish.
