Maine Nurses Can Renew Licenses Online

Can renew their licenses, change the status of their licenses from active to inactive, or update their addresses

The Maine State Board of Nursing has launched a new service that allows licensed Maine nurses to renew their licenses online. The service is available from the state's official Web site. The user-friendly application is designed to allow nurses to quickly and easily renew their professional licenses.

Both registered professional nurses and licensed practical nurses can use the service. "We are extremely excited to be able to offer this service to Maine's nurses," said Myra Broadway, executive director of the Maine State Board of Nursing. "We are aware that Maine's nursing community has wanted to be able to use an online system for license renewals for quite some time, and we are very pleased to be able to offer them this convenient service."

Nurses who wish to use the system must meet a simple set of criteria. They must have a license that has not lapsed or is inactive, the license cannot be under suspension, and the license holder must hold a Maine license. Nurses who meet these criteria can renew their licenses, change the status of their licenses from active to inactive, or update their address. Payment with a Visa or MasterCard may be made through Maine.gov's secure payment processor.

The Maine State Board of Nursing Online Renewal Application was developed in partnership with InforME, the state of Maine's private-sector partner and official Web portal provider. Maine.gov is the official Web portal of the state of Maine and is the winner of the Center for Digital Government's 2004 Best of the Web competition. Maine.gov is a service of the Information Resource of Maine (InforME), a collaborative effort between the state of Maine and New England Interactive, LLC that helps Maine government entities Web-enable their information services. Maine.gov was built and is marketed, operated, and maintained by New England Interactive LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of eGovernment firm NIC.
