SafeView Now Shipping Its Scout Personnel Screening Systems

Millimeter Wave Technology Provides Safe Alternative to X-ray

Today, SafeView announced its Scout Personnel Screening Systems for screening of people for conventional and non-conventional weapons, explosives and contraband.

The systems utilize very low power millimeter waves to generate their detection capability, which meet all applicable world safety standards. "Since we use millimeter wave technology, we don't have the issues associated with use of ionizing radiation such as those seen with x-ray systems," according to Rick Rowe, SafeView's CEO. "In fact, our radio frequency power level is 10,000 times less than that of a cell phone, to give the layman a feel for how safe it is. Our biggest issue is that people still tend to confuse our system with x-ray technology, so we need to spend the time to educate them on the differences. Clearly, there continues to be much concern worldwide about the use of x-rays to screen people, with which we agree. This was one of the primary reasons this technology was developed by the US Government with FAA funding: to be safe and give confidence to people when they are checked in these kinds of systems."
