California Forges Emergency Bulletin Syndication Relationship

FinancialContent Inc. to carry emergency bulletins

Last month the California Governor's Office of Emergency Services (OES) signed a memorandum of understanding with FinancialContent Inc. to disseminate its emergency bulletins.

FinancialContent will extend its Web, wireless and email alert capabilities to include emergency bulletins issued by Emergency Digital Information Service (EDIS), a system developed by the OES to facilitate notifications to the citizens of California. Specifically, FinancialContent will deploy the emergency bulletins as customized content modules to be syndicated through its Studio 3.5 content management platform.

"Initially, we will focus primarily on the delivery of the emergency bulletins to our California-based clients," said Wing Yu, CEO of FinancialContent. "Local and regional media sites that currently turn to us for financial data and business news can look forward to receiving storm watch warnings, Amber alerts, Homeland Security bulletins and more."

According to the OES, the Emergency Services Act (Chapter 7 of Division 1 of Title 2 of the Government Code - 8593.1) provided for the creation of EDIS after the Loma Prieta Earthquake of 1989. To meet the threat of rotating blackouts, Amber Alerts and other alert and warning challenges, the OES continues to forge new relationships to extend its network of notification partners.
