The agenda's most expensive item calls for approval of a long-term agreement with Motorola Solutions to replace aging body-worn and in-car camera systems used by the Webb County Sheriff's Office. The proposal includes new cameras, accessories, software integration and cloud-based data storage, with total costs exceeding $3.2 million over a 10-year period. County officials say the upgrade would replace equipment that has reached the end of its service life and improve evidence storage and access.
Commissioners are also expected to accept $2.14 million in state funding through the Comprehensive Energy Assistance Program. The funds would be used to help qualifying low-income residents pay household utility bills through 2026. Several related agenda items involve supplemental funding and contract amendments to extend or expand those services.
In another potentially significant move, the Court will consider authorizing negotiations to purchase about 14 acres of property along U.S. Highway 59. Details of the proposed acquisition are expected to be discussed in executive session.
Other items on the agenda include proposed road improvements in the Rio Bravo area, the purchase of license plate reader systems for border-security efforts, expanded fire inspection and permitting software, and a grant application aimed at preventing human trafficking and the sexual exploitation of children. Commissioners will also review several infrastructure change orders, equipment purchases and staffing requests across multiple county departments.
The Webb County Commissioners Court meeting is scheduled to begin Monday at 9 a.m. at the Webb County Courthouse.
