Connecticut Traffic "E-Alert" System Has 8,588 Subscribers in First Year

"People want convenience. They want reliability and accurate information, and that's what they get with traffic e-alerts"

Connecticut Governor M. Jodi Rell last week announced that 8,588 people have signed up for the Department of Transportation's (DOT) statewide electronic rail and highway traffic incident notification system in less than a year of operation.

"As someone who commutes more than 100 miles to and from work, I know all too well the value of the e-alert system," Governor Rell, a Brookfield resident, said. "While we are doing all we can to bring about a long-term fix for our road and rail systems, it is nice to have this notification before you jump into your car or head to the train station.

"Signing up for this free service is quick and easy, and that's why it has been such a hit with commuters. People want convenience. They want reliability and accurate information, and that's what they get with traffic e-alerts. The steady growth we have seen in our e-alert subscriptions shows that we are providing a useful service to people not just Fairfield County but throughout the state."
