Fire District in Armonk, NY to Deploy New Communications Network

Will use existing electrical wiring for a new local area network to improve the department's response to emergencies

The North Caste Fire District #2 in Armonk, NY, is installing a powerline communications (PLC) networking solution designed to address the networking challenges associated with emergency preparedness integrating it into a fully integrated, crisis communications solution at the new Armonk Fire Station. The network provides a reliable and secure in-building solution that uses the facility's existing electrical wiring to deliver secure, high-speed data transmission and networking capabilities -- especially in hazardous or emergency situations where rapid, reliable deployment is critical.

The fire station will provide the greater Armonk community with emergency response capabilities to quickly and effectively address fire, medical, police, natural disaster, and man-made threats. The new network will facilitate rapid communications among local, state and federal government entities to ensure rapid and appropriate response to situations that put the safety and security of Armonk's citizens at risk.

"Working in tandem with our comprehensive communications systems, we are confident that the Telkonet PLC solution will seamlessly support the work of our team," said North Caste Fire Commission Chairman, John Heimerdinger. "The Telkonet solution provides us with an outstanding way to leverage existing, in-building infrastructure to solve a pressing problem: rapid response to local emergencies."
