Skakel Defense Claims Video Misled Jury

Prosecutors use of graphics and recorded interviews took statements out of context and improperly influenced the jury to convict him of murder, defense claims

Lawyers for Michael Skakel are awaiting a decision from the Connecticut Supreme Court on an appeal of his murder conviction. One of the issues in the appeal is a video used by the prosecution at his trial that defense lawyers claim took statements made during recorded interviews of Skakel with a biographer out of context and improperly influenced the jury to convict him of the 1975 murder of Martha Moxley. The appeal was heard on January 14, 2005 and the court has yet to issue an opinion on the matter.
