How can you turn your anger over a tweet into a force for good?

#TriggerGiving

The Internet can be a vitriolic place, filled with people unafraid to say whatever they want, whenever they want to say it. But a new Twitter-based app will let you instantly reply to an infuriating social media post by donating to the nonprofit of your choice in retaliation.

Trigger is a new donation platform that lets Twitter users react to hostile posts in a way that is productive and a force for change, regardless of your political leanings. If you have a Trigger account, you simply reply to an angering tweet with the Twitter handle of your nonprofit of choice, a dollar amount and the hashtag “TriggerGive.” You can also include an additional message, as long as it’s within the 140-character limit. Trigger then sends the nonprofit your donation, plus a small PayPal transaction fee, but doesn't keep any of the money for itself. The company calls it “retaliatory giving.”

So the next time your representative or maybe your old college roommate tweets something that “triggers” your ire, you’ll be able to immediately do something to fight back — even if it’s a little passive aggressive.
