Why are Dutch police training eagles?

Answer: to take down drones

Police in the Netherlands are testing eagles as a way to take down rogue drones.

Police employed a bird training company called Guard From Above to see if the idea would work and whether it could be safe for the birds. In the video above, a handler comments that a bird’s scales keep them safe from possible injury by a drone’s propellers. But, he said they might also equip the bird with extra protection.

While police are calling this “training,” another video would suggest that animals of all types don’t need much encouragement when it comes to attacking drones.
