According to The Daily Mail, Apple is one of several companies getting ready to use fingerprint recognition on its devices -- and the new iPhone will allow owners to identify themselves by pressing a finger onto the handset.
But fingerprint recognition isn't the only thing being examined -- Google, which makes Android phones, is looking at voice recognition, iris scanners, behavioral biometrics and heartbeat reading.
"It’s a case of looking beyond passwords and the best alternatives are provided by smartphones," Michael Barratt, head of security at PayPal, told The Daily Mail. "The general view is that Apple will launch a fingerprint-enabled iPhone before the end of the year."
