The New York City Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) plans to replace all station maps and announcements with interactive high-definition displays -- and it plans to implement up to 90 of them throughout some of NYC's most popular stations, bringing the service to more than 4 million people each day, Gizmag reported.
These new HD kiosks, which will provide simple directions and real-time service alerts, are being created through a partnership between the MTA and Control Group, a local design firm that won the Community Impact Award in the NYC Reinvent Payphones competition.
