Which presidential candidate has the grammar skills of a 10-year-old?

Answer: Donald Trump

According to a recent study titled, A Readability Analysis of Campaign Speeches from the 2016 US Presidential Campaign, Donald Trump trailed his opponents when it came to his command of language.

An analysis of Trump’s speeches was found to correspond with that of students ages 11 and younger, while his vocabulary range was at a sub-eighth-grade level, the lowest of any political figure

But his opponents aren't much better.

Marco Rubio, who has now dropped out, Ted Cruz and Hillary Clinton used grammar that corresponded to students between the ages of 11 and 14, while their vocabulary matched students between 13 and 16. Bernie Sanders was the current candidate with the most sophisticated vocabulary, rivaling that of Ronald Reagan.

Former President George W. Bush demonstrated the weakest grammar of any politician analyzed, as his language use was shown to match that of a fifth-grader, though his vocabulary was on par with current president Barack Obama.

Abraham Lincoln topped the usage chart, with grammar that matched a modern-day 11th-grader’s. The full report can be found here.
