What app can help order your morning doughnuts ahead of time?

Answer: Waze

Google’s crowdsourced navigation app Waze can help avoid real-time traffic so you get to your destination on time and with minimal hassle. But in a new partnership with Dunkin’ Donuts, Waze can also help order your favorite breakfast treats to pick up along the way.

Part of a software update released Tuesday, March 28, includes a new feature for Waze: Order Ahead, which allows users to place a food order directly from their Waze navigation screen. Currently users must have both the Dunkin’ Donuts app as well as Waze downloaded onto their smartphones. By pre-programing their favorite doughnuts and coffee drinks into the Dunkin’ app, they can place an order there with one tap on the Waze screen, and the food will be available for pickup inside the restaurant.

Dunkin’ Donuts is currently the only available Order Ahead eatery, but reports note that since other chains like Taco Bell and Starbucks already have their own proprietary apps, similar partnerships could be in Waze’s future. While Waze recommends placing your order before departing in your vehicle, autonomous vehicle users may one day find such a feature quite useful.
