How did hackers take down the MedStar Health network used by 10 hospitals?

Answer: Officials still aren't sure.

More than 30,000 health-care workers and 3,000 physicians were yanked offline from the MedStar Health network this week after an unconfirmed malware attack. Company officials reported on March 28 that its system was still offline and that they didn’t know what type of malware had caused the damage. The company provides services to 10 hospitals in Washington, D.C., and Maryland where now, medical records can’t be accessed and appointments can’t be booked electronically.
