A new record for Wi-Fi was set by transmitting data at what speed?

Answer: 40 GBps

Researchers recently broke the record at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in Germany. Transmitted between two points about 0.6 mi. apart, the faster transmission rate was made possible by using special hardware operating at 240 GHz. Most Wi-Fi networks operate at either 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz.
