What’s Rupert the Turtle up to?

Rupert is the pet turtle of Joshua Tauberer, a civic hacker and founder of congressional open data website GovTrack.us.

A webcam captures Rupert’s daily activities and posts an updated image online every 12 seconds. With enough patience, viewers can see beyond what appears to be the slow-paced life of an ordinary eastern box turtle, and become enveloped in the drama and intrigue of a lone amniote’s turbulent lifestyle. Rupert also occasionally finds time to shoot out a tweet from his Twitter handle, @JoshDataTurtle.
