What does the Aspirational Lamp aspire to do?

Answer: put energy back into the grid

The Aspirational Lamp is a concept designed by Feild Craddock, Akshay Verma and Michael-Owen Liston as part of a two-week course called the Secret Life of Objects, offered through the Copenhagen Institute of Interaction Design.

The designers imagined an AI-controlled desk lamp that can collect solar energy, sell it back to the grid and pursue even bigger goals, like investing in the stock market.

Making such a product a reality is a journey full of challenges, since putting energy back into the grid requires special equipment and legal arrangements, but the idea that everyday objects will gain ever more functionality and agency seems to be inevitable.
