What form of energy is projected to expand sixfold by 2030?

Answer: solar

Solar power is one of the fastest moving segments of the energy and technology sector, as shown by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), which predicts the energy source will account for 8 to 13 percent of the world's energy production by 2030.

The average cost of electricity from a photovoltaic system is expected to drop just as quickly, with prices expected to dip 59 percent by 2025.

“The renewable energy transition is well underway, with solar playing a key role,” IRENA Director General Adnan Amin said. “Cost reductions, in combination with other enabling factors, can create a dramatic expansion of solar power globally.”
