According to a recent study conducted byWalletHub that compared the nation's 150 largest metropolitan centers, Ann Arbor, Mich., ranks No. 1 for education across nine metrics. In fact, the city blew away the competition, scoring almost 95 points out of 100. Second place, which was the Washington-Arlington-Alexandria region, scored 79 points.

Ann Arbor boasts the highest percentage of high school diploma holders, associate's degree holders or "college-experienced adults," bachelor's degree holders, and graduate or professional degree holders.

Anchorage, Alaska, exhibits the smallest gender gap in educational attainment, Albuquerque, N.M., showed the smallest racial gap in educational attainment, and the San Jose-Sunnyvale-Santa Clara, Calif., region had the highest average university quality.
