What resource did NASA recently make available, free to the public?

Answer: all of its publicly funded research

All of NASA’s publicly funded research — more than 850 articles — is now available for free viewing by the public.

The release of data follows a 2013 directive by the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy for federal agencies to open their data. Previously NASA’s research was available only to those with a paid subscription, but the agency’s policy is now to publish any new research on the portal within one year.

“Making our research data easier to access will greatly magnify the impact of our research,” NASA Chief Scientist Ellen Stofan said in a statement. “As scientists and engineers, we work by building upon a foundation laid by others.”
