What new feature has Google added to its Arts and Cultures Exhibit?

Answer: 360-degree and virtual reality tours of national parks

Users can be guided through the lava flows of Hawaii, take a digital kayak through Alaska’s fjords, snorkel through Floridian reef, trek through New Mexico’s Carlsbad Caverns or admire Utah’s Bryce Canyon.

“Our national parks are wonderlands,” a narrator explains on Google’s project website. “Amazing places to explore and discover. The beauty is obvious — that there is a hidden world you won’t see on any map. To find that world, you need a guide.”

Using the service, which is accessible via Web or mobile app, is similar to taking a real guided tour. The user can drag the screen to look around, click or tap on points of interest, and listen to a knowledgeable guide explain the history and features of the site.
