For a span of four days this past summer, commuters in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, were permitted to ride trams, buses and trolleys for free if they brought a physical book to read. Through the Travel By Book program, the city hoped to encourage literacy — and combat overuse of social media, apps and technology in general.
