Why did California create a new station on Pandora?

Answer: to conserve water

A new drought-themed radio station on streaming music service Pandora reminds listeners to take short showers to help conserve water.

Created by the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (PDF), the Water Lover's Station on Pandora features more than 100 songs all related to water or rain — like "Waterfalls" by TLC, "The River" by Bruce Springsteen, "Have You Ever Seen the Rain" by Creedence Clearwater Revival, "Purple Rain" by Prince, and "Head Above Water" by Hall & Oates. Each song on the station is less than five minutes long, allowing listeners to time their showers along with the music.
