Which state’s police force can now fly drones without a warrant?

Answer: California

On Sept. 28, Gov. Jerry Brown vetoed a bill that would have required police to obtain a court-issued warrant to fly drones in most situations.

"There are undoubtedly circumstances where a warrant is appropriate. The bill's exceptions, however, appear to be too narrow and could impose requirements beyond what is required by either the Fourth Amendment or the privacy provisions in the California Constitution," Brown wrote in a letter to the California State Assembly (PDF).

Privacy advocates expressed disappointment with the governor’s decision.
