How is Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence software learning to speak more like a human?

Answer: by plugging into Reddit

The nonprofit artificial intelligence research company from Elon Musk, called OpenAI, is building its technology hoping computers will someday speak like humans. According to a release, the system is training "on entire years of conversations of people talking to each other on all of Reddit.”

By plugging the system in to the nearly 900,000 subreddit communities, developers are relying on the large number of free (mostly civil) conversations to help the project understand nuances of human language. One thing they hope to avoid is what happened to the Microsoft Chabot, Tay, who received information from Twitter messages and turned racist and sexist.
