How are several British companies freezing drones in mid-air?
Answer: radio jamming
Through the use of strong radio signals, a new system called AUDS (Anti-UAV Defense System) jams a drone's navigating capabilities, leaving the operator to believe the drone has malfunctioned on its own. A long jam will lead the drone to eventually lose power and crash, while a shorter jam could lead the operator to bring the drone home.
