Are ‘personalized nutrition’ plans the future of food?

Answer: maybe not

Although there has been movement in recent years toward personalized medicine and workout routines optimized for specific individuals, the argument for personalized nutrition seems to be dubious. The Silicon Valley startup, Habit, promises to “gather and analyze over 60 of your biomarkers to create a simplified nutrition action plan.” However, according to research done by Vox, geneticists remain skeptical about companies claiming to create individualized meal plans dictating what users need in their diet.

As Lund University, genetic epidemiologist Paul Franks said, "There are well-known examples of where genotype might help guide diet choices," however the evidence remains scant. "Services [such as Habit] purport to go much further than these rare examples."
