NPR reported that Scott accused Kern of doing this so he could hand-pick a successor — something he essentially acknowledged in an ABC 10 TV interview just one week after Ernst's death, saying, "Vote for him anyway, because that way we can get somebody that's qualified there."
On Nov. 2, Scott, who is fighting the outcome, took to Facebook to inform voters of the situation.
