What technology will be featured in Disney World’s holiday shows this year?

Disney and Intel have partnered to add a new technology to the theme park’s holiday shows this year — drones. Three hundred Shooting Star drones, which have been designed for entertainment purposes, will perform aerial performances at Disney World in Florida over the holiday season.

Creating the tech-fused show has taken five months of coordination between the companies, Wired reported, and the drones can create more than 4 billion color combinations.

Drones programmed to fly in tight formation may have other applications beyond the entertainment industry. For example, they could help with search and rescue after an emergency or inspect construction areas.
