Which emerging technology is at the center of a new Microsoft Venture investment?

According to a recent Bloomberg report, Washington-based Microsoft Ventures, the capital investment wing of the technology corporation, is investing an undisclosed amount of money in Canadian research lab Element AI, which was founded by Yoshua Bengio in October 2016. Microsoft and other big-name technology companies — like Amazon, Facebook and Google — have been investing heavily in the increasingly competitive artificial intelligence space in recent years. The monetary move also bolsters the company’s creation of a 5,000-employee AI group that was launched in September.
