Are some iPhone alarms still not working?

Answer: It appears so.

On Monday, reports began surfacing of a seemingly random issue with alarms on some users’ iPhones. Those affected said their alarms were either not going off or doing so very quietly (which defeats the purpose of an alarm). Apple said it was aware of the issue and working on a fix.

Days later, users are still waiting for that fix. “This has probably been the third or fourth day in a row that my alarm clock has not gone off,” said one person on TikTok. “I’ve noticed for the past week or so my alarm just wasn’t waking me up,” commented another. Someone else noted that the alarm was going off on their iPhone 15, but it was doing so at “the lowest volume.”

Apple said that it is working to fix the problem quickly, and in the meantime its online advice page on alarms might be helpful. It still isn’t clear how many people have been affected or what the cause might be, although some have speculated that it may be related to the new “attention aware” feature. This feature lowers the sound of alerts as well as the brightness of the screen when you are actively looking at your device.
