Tesla’s Cybertruck has gifted the world with no shortage of headlines since it was first unveiled in 2019, and that’s a gift that keeps on giving. In 2022, CEO Elon Musk tweeted that the vehicle would “be waterproof enough to serve briefly as a boat, so it can cross rivers, lakes & even seas that aren’t too choppy.”

A Cybertruck owner in Grapevine, Texas, recently decided to put that claim to the test, driving their vehicle into Grapevine Lake. It, unsurprisingly, did not work as a boat and became disabled. Grapevine police were dispatched to the stranded vehicle, where fortunately no one was injured and the driver and passengers made it safely out. The driver was then arrested.
