Until now, Amazon’s voice assistant has kept things clean. But a new update this week has given Alexa+ a potty mouth, if you so choose. Amazon is calling this new personality the “sassy” mode, saying it is an “unfiltered personality” with “razor-sharp wit, playful sarcasm and occasional censored profanity.”

Engadget’s Lawrence Bonk played around with the new sassy mode but couldn’t get it to utter any actual profanities, so it sounds like they aren’t kidding when they say it will only swear occasionally. This means we also don’t yet know what form the censoring will take, like a bleep sound or a more tame replacement word. Sassy mode is only for adults, so you’ll have to go through some specific steps to enable it, including a face scan.
