The robot, called Adam, was created by PNDbotics. It stands at 5.5 feet tall, weighs 136 pounds, and has 44 degrees of full-body freedom with 250 ft.-lbs. of joint torque. The sequences Adam played were preprogrammed and monitored by a live support team, so there was no robo-improv (yet). They weren’t very complicated parts either, but the robot didn’t miss a beat.
Adam was even dressed for the occasion, sporting a loose hoodie over a ball cap and face covering, though its robotic skeletal legs were still on full display. This was just a prototype, but PNDbotics, in partnership with Noitom, is planning to officially launch the bot at the World Artificial Intelligence Conference in September.
