Can you securely hide an AirTag in your kid’s sneakers?

Answer: You can if it’s this new pair of Skechers.

Some parents have found that putting an AirTag in their child’s backpack or pocket helps with their peace of mind when their kid is away from home. But things can easily fall out of pockets, and kids often put their backpacks down, so it’s not always a reliable solution. But kids are not nearly as likely to become separated from their shoes, if you can put a tracker there.

That’s the idea behind Skechers’ latest line of kids’ sneakers. They come with a secret hidden compartment in the heel that’s made for stowing an AirTag. Just lift up the insole and fabric web liner and you’ll find it recessed in the shoe’s midsole. The plastic compartment has a lid that screws in to hold the AirTag in place.

Nothing in the compartment or the composition of the shoe will interfere with the AirTag’s signal. And there’s no label or branding on the shoe that indicates it can hide an AirTag. The shoes are available in sizes for toddlers to eight-year-olds and come in several different style and color options.
